How the Total Dyslexia Score Changed My Life

To Know is Better Than to Not Know...

Dyslexia affects 1 in 5 people globally, yet testing costs a whopping $800 to $8,000!

When I suspected dyslexia at 48, I needed answers.

Like many with undiagnosed dyslexia, I assumed I was stupid and adjusted to life accordingly; years of academic and professional struggles left me lost.

But in all of those years, dyslexia was never once mentioned.

A SPICY DISCOVERY

The  turning point was finding the book "Dyslexic Advantage" by Brock and Fernette Eide.

That's when things finally clicked!

How did my dyslexia diagnosis go unnoticed for years?

It's obvious to us now - dyslexia is much more than just reading, spelling, or writing troubles.

Hooked by "Dyslexic Advantage," I knew I had dyslexia.

But how could I make it official? How could I be 100% certain?

After all, forking over $6200 to a psychologist, neuropsychologist or dyslexia testing specialist wasn't happening.

Luckily, the book Dyslexic Advantage mentioned an app (NeuroLearning) that assessed dyslexia for anyone from 7-70 years old (who hadn't yet been tested) with 98% accuracy – and it was affordable (less than $100!).

THE BIG REVEAL

Drs. Brock and Fernette Eide are the leading figures in dyslexia research so taking the assessment and trusting its results was a no-brainer.

In the words of NY Mayor Eric Adams upon discovering his dyslexia:

"Damn it! I'm not dumb, I'm dyslexic!"

MAN'SWERS!

Finally, I had answers – validation and serious relief!

That "thing" I couldn't pinpoint for decades finally had a name.

The app changed my life.

It gave me visibility into my dyslexia in easy-to-understand language.

The 30+ page report outlined my strengths and weaknesses with tremendous detail. It even includes little pop up video explainers in each section.

I was in absolute shock in awe.

THE TOTAL DYSLEXIA SCORE

Your Total Dyslexia Score  is between (1-100).

This number shows the likelihood of dyslexia, providing evidence of reading, processing, and executive function difficulties.

But the assessment goes way beyond just a score.

It also provided:

☑️ 6 Dyslexia Subscale Scores: Results on key functions like phonological processing, working memory, and visual attention – all crucial for reading and spelling.

☑️ 2 Reading Achievement Scores: Reading skills in short and long passages.

☑️ Action Plan: Tailored to your results and needs.

☑️ MIND Strengths: Dyslexics have 4 types of reasoning. MIND Strengths are like roadmaps helping you identify and/ or choose a career path that plays to your strengths, not your weaknesses.

This blog piece, the entire Powered by Dyslexia brand and movement were all born from this singular experience.

I'm forever grateful...
