Dyslexia's Edge

Flipping the Switch on Wizzy Wigs

Each dyslexic mind runs on its own operating system - no matter how you slice it, dice it, chince it or mince it.

While building 2 websites recently (including this one), I learned something interesting.

My tech-skilled business partner introduced me to the term WYSIWYG - What You See Is What You Get.

Pronounced "Wizzy-Wig", It's a content editor that shows you exactly how your webpage will look when it's live.

Being semi-techie but not super techie, I'm always looking for how intuitive software is.

Are the buttons where you'd expect them? Can you find what you need quickly without a treasure map?

But here's the thing; with dyslexia, you don't get that luxury.

As an invisible difference, what others see IS NOT always what they get.

The Hidden Operating System

Let’s be real. Studies show dyslexics often face serious barriers in education, work, and daily life.

You know what I mean…

You've gotten those looks.

You've felt the weight of others' judgment.

You've heard those unspoken voices of dismissal.

Maybe you've been labeled "slow" or "careless" when you're anything but.

You've faced bias because of how you process info.

Been passed over for opportunities.

Had your ideas dismissed.

Judged for how you communicate.

But here's where it gets interesting...

Jordan’s Way

This is where we can learn from an unexpected source.

Basketball legend Michael Jordan mastered the art of turning friction into fuel.

Even when his team was in the lead, he'd seek out EDGE - something with enough juice to spark that carburetor of competitive spirit.

He'd transform the smallest slight into rocket fuel for his performance.

An offhand comment in the press. A doubt about his abilities. Each became energy for excellence.

Flip the Switch

What if you invited that same EDGE into your life?

No I’m not saying you need to Be Like Mike.

But instead of letting past experiences weigh you down, what if they powered your next move?

Not through bitterness or revenge, but a focused determination highlighting what’s possible with your advantage unlocked.

Your Full Expression

I know, it’s a lot.

The impact of being misunderstood, overlooked or underestimated - it lingers.

And I get that…

The best revenge isn't focusing on past pain - it's achieving results that speak for themselves…

It's finding your Zone of Power and operating in a way that makes those old voices irrelevant.

PSST, Come here - Closer…

I’ll let you in on an open secret.

I don’t have it all figured out.

But you know what helps?

This! You! Us! We! The LEX Nation!

One thing content creators don’t say enough is that we too are on our way; just maybe at a different stage of the journey.

The culture and way in which I grew up, sharing openly was a no-fly zone; it just didn’t happen and I carried that attitude into work and relationships.

But writing, speaking, shaping, articulating, sharing and creating at the speed of thought - has had a tremendously positive and purposeful effect on my life.

Because helping you also - helps me….

What the Flip! Back to Wizzy-Wig

Oh Snap!

In the tech world, WYSIWYG means the final product matches exactly what you see on screen.

But in the Dyslexia-verse, that'll never happen because it’s an invisible difference.

And that’s a good thing!

Tap Into Thy Self

“You refuse to be predictable, average, run of the mill and garden variety.”

What others see is but a preview and a peek.

Because beneath that surface lies a powerhouse of potential.

You, LEX - are not unique like everybody else.

You are Younique - like only you can be.

And the Difference - is Why.

Click Wizzy-Wig to hear the song.

Time to show them what they didn't see coming!
